Abstract In the design process of a ship lift, size tank and depth water inside are always minimized under premise satisfying standard freight volume, in order to reduce power electrical driving system, construction cost project difficulty equipment manufacturing, as result, cross-section coefficient is small. Therefore, up-and downstream docking between reaches canal involves many related hydraulic problems, for instance, opening closing vertical lift gates, entering leaving tank, very complicated. The an important link whole operations lift. At same time, change unsteady flow hub will also affect safety efficiency process. This paper first briefly introduces different types systematically summarizes scientific problems involved when enters leaves tank. Secondly, combined with research results obtained from variety methods such theoretical analysis, physical model test, mathematical simulation calculation real test previous researchers, hydrodynamic progress ships introduced. summary, criteria lift’s on basis introduced above.
